Things You Don’t Know About Snoring Remedies
Ever contemplate how much sleep your spouse’s snoring is costing you each night? Would you believe me if I told you it might be as much as an hour? Well, that’s what a Mayo Clinic study reported it to be.
With that much sleep loss going on it’s no wonder non surgical snoring solutions are in such demand. I mean if you look online you’ll see all sorts of bizarre remedies and fixes being promoted.
No doubt snoring wears on relationships. Plus it can signal more serious issues. So despite the fact it’s not technically in the disease category it does result in a string of problems. Not the least of which is how it impacts your bed mate.
Now if you read the ads for a tempting array of stuff like magnets, back of the throat sprays or even acupressure watches and rings and you’ll be convinced the solution being offered must work. But do they? Well that might be another matter entirely.
That’s because there are no studies to back up the claim of benefits to be had with any of the nasal strips, oral sprays or space age pillows designed to hold your head in place. Photos of smiling bedmates in the ads not withstanding.
Surgery to eliminate snoring that tightens the soft palate in your throat that has grown flabby, think throat lift, is costly, painful and not a guaranteed cure either.
As a result, non traditional (to put it mildly), remedies continue to find favor. With more than enough solutions coming online to meet an ever growing demand of folks hoping against hope this time they’ve found the answer.
Yet often if you dig deeper however you’ll find no controlled study to back the claims made by those selling such remedies. Beyond that since snoring isn’t classified as a disease the FDA can’t do much about the promises these sellers make. No matter how outrageous the claims generated from supposedly satisfied customers.
So relying on Buyer Beware is about all that’s left. Sadly too may are not. Aware that is. Despite the fact this fails the “if it sounds to be good to be true it probably is” sniff test.
So when you see things like asupressure pinky rings or any collection of straps and magnets or electric shock watch like devices, take pause.
Another problem is, most things that sound crazy get lumped in with some unusual things that really do work. Making it hard for even careful consumers to judge. Because solutions like singing training, blasting out show tunes on the didgeridoo even a banana shake have been shown to help. See what I mean? Hard to believe but true.
Besides there are easy things anyone can try like giving up smoking or just doing what you can to sleep on your side that can help silence the episodes of log sawing. That keeps those we share our beds with up at night.
So please, before you click on the link to order something crazy, do your homework. See what you can learn before you spend your money. Sure there are some far out ideas that do produce results. But most sadly are just far out there more or less lost in space.
